Kids brain cancer isn't just a disease. It's the epitome of unfairness. You can help...

Less than a year ago I was a parent of a healthy 6 year old kid who loved school, sports, playdates and everything else kids his age love to do. Back in February he started to limp. One week later we were at the Emergency room. MRI scan showed a brain tumor size of a tennis ball in his head. Two days later Max had his first brain surgery. From that moment on Max has gone through another surgery, radiation treatment and now he is in the middle of chemo therapy . The latest MRI scan came clean but the brain tumor has affected Max's speech as well as the right side of his body. We're very hopeful but this fight isn't over yet.  

During hospital visits with Max and meeting other parents with sick children, I realized how many kids and their families live in this reality. Reality of countless hospital visits, tests, worries, waiting for answers and hoping… I've decided to do something to change this reality. Back in August I've started doing research and came across The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation ® (PBTF). PBTF had their annual New England Ride for Kids® event this August. At the event I've met many of The PBTF team members and learned a lot more about the foundation

What I've learned convinced me to help them raise money. They fund research to eradicate Pediatric Brain Cancer and their overhead is very low. At less than 15% it's one of the lowest among non-profits. That means out of every dollar you donate about 85 cents will go towards special programs PBTF has developed. Even though the situation is not perfect, it is a lot better than it was 20 years ago when PBTF was founded. The rate of surviving is growing and PBTF, being the largest non-governmental source of funding this research, has played a major role in this accomplishment.  

To raise awareness and help PBTF I've created Miles For Cure (MFC). MFC is simply a group of people volunteering their efforts for a good cause. We are a 100% expense free organization. All work to create and support the website, organize events, etc. is 100% volunteered. Every penny collected through the efforts of MFC is being forwarded to PBTF for cancer research and helping kids and their families.
